This week, it took place the closure event of the AAFLOODS project in Sevilla. The event inluded the public presentation of the Local Flood Risk Management Plans developed in the framework of the project in a series of events held at Osuna, Morón de la Frontera, Écija y Cañada Rosal.

This project, funded by the European Union and in collaboration with the GEAMA, aims to reduce potential flood damages by improving various tools already implemented in our locality and conducting a preliminary study to identify areas at greater risk of flooding. Sensors and rain gauges have been installed in different areas of the municipality, and research on the entire local sewer network has been conducted, among other actions.

Through a detailed and more effective analysis, this project seeks to establish more precise prevention and preparedness measures, address the risks generated by urban development, promote better administrative coordination to avoid undesired effects, and involve new stakeholders in prevention and alert systems, particularly water companies and law enforcement agencies. The goal is to achieve more coordinated planning, reduce potential damages, and prevent and mitigate the impacts of climate change.

The event was covered by the local media.
