The main goal of GEAMA is to generate new knowledge in the field of water resources management, and to transfer this knowledge to the water administration and companies, in order to achieve a more efficient and sustainable use of water by the society. Some of the topics in which we develop our work include:

– Forecast and management of extreme hydrological events, such as floods and droughts
– Monitoring and management of reservoirs and lakes
– Wastewater treatment, control of wastewater discharges and water quality
– Desing of port infraestructures and management of port operations
– Design and management of sustainable urban drainage systems
– Impact of climate change on water resources management

Our work is funded by public research projects as well as by private companies with which we work in close collaboration. We also work regularly with water management administrations and with NGOs and international agencies. We are also involved in education at different levels, through our participation in several undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs. We regularly organise seminars and specialized training courses aimed at professionals of the water sector.
