Hydrothermal and geothermal energy

The fact that the technical research group is based in the city of A Coruña and its proximity to the tidal inlets and ports of Galicia oblige the group to study the fields of maritime and port engineering. The field of Hydraulic Engineering of the GEAMA is working on numeric and physical modeling of problems associated with the coastal environment, searching for practical and applicable solutions for companies and administrations.

The field of maritime engineering concentrates on the study of waves and ocean currents in estuaries, inlets and the open sea, coastal transport, of contaminants and technical solutions for the sustainable managment of the maritime ecosystems, physical model analysis of submarine emissaries in order to determine optimum unloading typology, or studies on stratification and two-ply flow.

Port engineering is primarily concentrated on working with the installations of the CITEEC, developing research projects which permit the understanding of the potential and the limitations of coastal defence and protection. This area also develops projects using innovative technology and technology in development, such as floating docks or the different types of screens to dissipate or reflect wave energy.
