Developmental cooperation

The international character of the members of the field of Hydraulic Engineering of the GEAMA is characterized by the direction and participation in international projects, related to the resource that is water, such as state institutions (Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional / Spanish Agency for Internation Cooperation), regional (Xunta de Galicia), an indeed private entities and non-governmental developmental organisations (Ingeniería Sin Fronteras / Engineers Without Borders), among others.

The work in this area has focused on technical studies seeking to solve the problems associated with the supply and safety of water, basic and advanced training in hydraulic engineering, sanitary conditions and methods of calculating the water distribution system, geographic information systems, training of technician leaders involving the agents, the direction of summer courses or similar courses for the promotion of Developmental Education and promoting awareness about the distribution and the managment of the worlds water.

Most of the groups members belong to or collaborate with entities such as Ingeniería Sin Fronteras (Engineers Without Borders), RedR (Registered Engineers for Disaster Relief) or Survival International, and have experience in the direction and mamagment of projects in Nicaragua, Perú, Bolivia, Argentina, Tanzania, Mozambique, El Salvador and Mali.
