Hydrology

This line of investigation includes the study of the transformation processes of runoff rain on rural and urban basins, by means of laboratory tests, basin instrumentation and numeric modelling.

We are currently working on the development of arranged two-dimensional models which allow the calculation of the flows caused by intense rainfall, in urban and rural basins, which include among other factors: the effect of construction, the terrain, the duration and spatial distribution of the rainfall. This line of investigation also works on the use of neuronal nets and artificial intelligence in the calculation of the basin-rainfall transformation.

Furthermore, the GEAMA team have much experience in the problems associated with the managment of runoff water in urban areas and the application of sustainable urban drainage techniques. Research projects and technical assistance have also been developed with public administrations, agencies and private companies.
